Pissarro and the Paradoxes of Memory

Musée d’Orsay
Impressionisms(s): new projects
December 10 and 11, 2009

Joachim Pissarro presented Pissarro and the Paradoxes of Memory as a part of the conference Impressionisms(s): new projects at the Musée d’Orsay.

About Impressionisms(s): new projects
From 2010, and with one exhibition a year, the Musée d’Orsay will join a number of projects concerning new painting and impressionism.

The current symposium is based on this scheduling, which is as ambitious as it is remarkable. The aim of our approach is to reassert Orsay’s position at the heart of research on modernity and its aesthetic. Over the course of two days, the most recent interpretative works will be introduced.

Once the symposium is open, impressionism, strictly speaking, will be made to coexist with the generation which established itself around Manet from the beginning of the 1860s. These two days will welcome all interpretations as long as they respect an objective historical protocol.
